MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee is an ever-evolving member- and community-based organization. The direction of the Pride Celebration Committee is largely determined by the membership. The membership is a voting body that meets monthly with the Board of Directors to make decisions to further the mission of the Committee. By becoming a member of San Francisco Pride you will have a direct voice in shaping an event that educates and gives back to the LGBT Community.

At our monthly meetings, the general membership can provide direct input on the event to Board Members and the Production Team as well as stay informed year round through monthly e-Newsletters and periodic e-mail updates. Other benefits of membership include participation in the nomination and selection of Grand Marshals, choosing the yearly theme of the Celebration and Parade as well as voting on the selection of the Board of Directors. These are just some of the ways in which you can be fully engaged with Pride and the greater LGBT Community!
In addition to what has been mentioned above, all members of Pride receive the following General Member Benefits:

  • A ‘Welcome to Pride’ membership packet with information on the history of the organization, biographies on our board members, and copies of our annual publications
  • Voting rights after two months of membership (this includes voting for candidates for the Board of Directors, the event theme and Community Grand Marshals)
  • Your name published in our annual ‘Pride Guide’ and on our website

BUILDING A STRONGER OUTREACH PROGRAM THROUGH MEMBER DONATIONS

Your financial contribution as a member would go directly into an outreach fund that helps to support year-round educational events for LGBT communities – this includes bringing nationally recognized speakers to the Bay Area, free film screenings, and the archiving of our history. While a donation is not required to become a member, your additional financial support could help build our community initiatives program.

Member funds in the past have gone directly toward a free and open-to-the-public screening of the ground-breaking documentary about queer hip-hop, "Pick Up The Mic," which was followed by a live performance by artists JenRo, Deep Dickollective, and Dutch Boy. With events like "Pick Up The Mic," the Pride Celebration Committee is expanding its event planning to provide a greater diversity of community events throughout the year.

Additionally, a portion of your donation goes toward supporting the Community Partners Program – a grant-giving program that, since its inception in 1997, has awarded over one million dollars to local non-profits whose missions reflect that of San Francisco Pride.

While we presently are working to provide online donations via debit and credit transactions, for the moment, donations can only be accepted by mail or in person at our offices. Checks and money orders may be made payable to "San Francisco LGBT Pride." Be sure to include your full name, phone number, and address when submitting donations. Please direct all donations to:
