Deputy Executive Director Brendan Behan (e-mail Brendan)
A native of San Diego, Brendan relocated to San Francisco in 2005 to work with San Francisco Pride. In 2003 Brendan received his B.A. from Claremont McKenna College in Chicana/o Studies with an emphasis in history and a minor in Gender Studies. Having studied at the Universidad de la Habana, Cuba, in 2002 and having completed his undergraduate education in 2003, Brendan returned to San Diego with a commitment to community organizing and devoted most of his time to cross-border activism related to trade issues, indigenous rights, and the environment. Working with groups such as the San Diego support committee to the Tijuana-based Frente Zapatista de Liberación Nacional and helping to organize bi-national clean-ups of the ecologically sensitive Tijuana Estuary, which straddles the U.S.-Mexico border, Brendan continued to deepen his involvement in grassroots organizing. Brendan has welcomed the opportunity to apply these experiences to the struggle for queer rights with San Francisco Pride.

Programs & Special Projects Coordinator Imani Brown (email Imani)
Having grown up in the Bay Area, Imani is glad to be living and working in San Francisco.  Her B.A. is from Pomona College where she majored in Women’s Studies with a focus in Politics.  While at Pomona, Imani worked at the Queer Resource Center and Women’s Union serving the Claremont Colleges’ LGBT community and its allies.  Her senior thesis, which profiled the California same-sex marriage debate, won the President’s Prize in Women’s Studies.  Imani values her study abroad experience at Cambridge University in England, where she focused on feminist theory and critical race studies, and her time at the University of Ghana in Accra.  In addition to her work as a feminist and queer activist, Imani is also proud of her time in student affairs, having worked at programs such as Summerbridge San Francisco, helping to run an after-school and summer program for low-income students and students of color in the San Francisco Bay Area.  As a member of the SF Pride staff, Imani feels privileged to work with such a wonderfully diverse community.
