New Leaf Outreach to Elders will sponsor the Elder Space on the Civic Center grounds both Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th. New Leaf Outreach to Elders, the oldest LGBT senior program in the Bay Area, invites all seniors to join us for shade, water and private potties. New Leaf Outreach to Elders will also host a cable car in the Sunday Pride Parade for seniors 60 + and disabled 18 and up. You must be able to get on and off the Cable Car with no help. Ride with us to be the recipient of cheers and thousands of thrown kisses. Cable Car is first come first serve. Call 415-626-7000 x409 to sign-up for cable car or for info on Elder Space.

Serving lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender elders age 60 and over, New Leaf Outreach to Elders (formerly Gay and Lesbian Outreach to Elders or GLOE) provides a range of senior social services promoting independent living and improving quality of life. The program offers information and referrals, support services, friendly visits for the homebound, educational and cultural activities, holiday events, group outings, and women’s and men’s social/recreational activities and groups.

THE LAVENDER SCROLLS PROJECT

Visibility, voice, community, understanding, history—the Lavender Seniors of the East Bay presents the Lavender Scrolls Project, a visual exhibit of the lives of eight lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans-gender elders, ages 58 to 85. Eight life-sized scrolls featuring photographs and life-story excerpts will be exhibited next to the Elder Space area at Pride, for all community members to view. This is funded in part by a grant from the California Council for the Humanities California Stories Initiative.

Lavender Seniors of the East Bay serves lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) seniors (age 55 and older) in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The mission of Lavender Seniors is to improve the quality of life of LGBT seniors through community outreach, education, and advocacy. Our services include social activities, meal programs, friendly visits, shopping assistance, educational events, and LGBT sensitivity training for senior service providers.
