It was love at first sight when I came to the Bay Area. I knew this had to be my home”.  And since 1989, home it has been.  For the past four years, he has been performing with singer/activist Holly Near and can be heard on her CD, The Edge.  This past February, he performed at the annual San Francisco Black History Month Celebration at the Palace of the Fine Arts along with Adrienne Torf, in a tribute to poet/activist June Jordan (Andre is featured on their CD, Collaboration – Adrienne Torf and June Jordan); this past summer, he was a featured performer at the AfroSolo Arts Festival's outdoor concert at Yerba Buena Gardens; he was seen at Theater Rhinoceros in the role of "Z" in For Colored Boys… Who Have Considered S-Curls When the Hot Comb Was Enuf.  Andre has twice performed at San Francisco PRIDE.

Based in the Richmond, California, he has donated performances to Bread and Roses events as well as doing concerts for The Juvenile Diabetes Walkathon, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walkathon, The San Francisco Coastal Clean-up, Little Brothers and Friends of The Elderly, The Black Coalition on AIDS, The UCSF AIDS Project and the Laguna Honda Center.

Andre is the proud recipient of change-management skills from his father (a football player to mortician to meat-packer to Baptist minister to caterer to landscaper) and performing art skills from his mother (a gospel-soloist to model to radio DJ to Denver's first Black television news anchorwoman to government communications executive).  Andre's songwriting skills began to take shape early, when writing original songs for the choir at his father's church became easier than learning cover material.  Of course it helped that in the choir was his brother and two sisters, all of which have had soloist careers.   His family toured regularly under the name The Morgan Singers and shared the stage with gospel greats such as James Cleveland, Shirley Caesar, and the Five Blind Boys of Alabama.

While on scholarship for vocal music at the University of Northern Colorado, he became interested in both acting and dance; shortly thereafter, he was awarded scholarships in both areas.   His studies lead to prominent roles in musicals, comedies and dramas as well as company member status with the Colorado Dance Theatre and The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble

Mr. Morgan continued his performing life in New York City where he was a featured jazz vocalist around town (for The New York Jazz Ensemble, Rhythm-Motion, The Frank Canino Band and Victor Lessor & Friends) a rock singer (with Andre & The White Boys and then The Andre Morgan Band) an actor (musical roles such as "Buddy" in June Jordan's & Adrienne Torf's Bang Bang Uber Alles and film roles such as "Terry" in the movie Parting Glances, the first major film release about AIDS) and a dancer (4 years with The Contemporary Dance Spectrum).  For 5 years, he was the artist-in-residence for New York University's Music Recording Department.

As a musician, he has written jazz, soul, rock, funk, blues, gospel, cabaret, folk and country.   While performing with his former band DreamForward, his original music was described by a Bay Area Magazine, as "a sentimental journey through time and space. Part African Groove, part Caribbean beat, part American jazz, and filled with soft soothing vocals."

Andre is a former officer with San Franicisco based Lesbians and Gays of African Descent (LGADDA).
