KJ THE MC
You’ve seen her on the stage of the BET Hip Hop Awards, KJ The MC is one young lady who works hard and gets her hustle on all over the country. Born in the Bay Area in Hayward, California, K.J. grew up in a musician family. Raised by her mother in a single parent home, she was brought up in the church learning to play many instruments by ear. She fell in love with Hip-Hop at age 12, listening to artists like Da Brat, MC Lyte and Snoop Dogg. At 18, she began composing songs from the heart and tell stories from a woman’s perspective. Full of potential & energy K.J. is a true lyricist and new sound for all to hear.
Amee Chapman & the Velvet Tumbleweeds
With a voice that conveys both the brutal honesty of a changing California and the tender footed sweetness of its past, Amee Chapman maintains a meandering love affair with the roots of American music and with the oft times bitter realities of rural soul. Influenced by the likes of Lucinda Williams, Esther Phillips, and Jeff Tweedy, her singing, songwriting and guitar playing reflect the images of the average and eccentric: lonesome highway phone booths, sea faring whiskey rebels, city wise angeled outlaws and suicidal tattooed cowboys, all of them pent up together on a stretch of land between the past and the present.

Primarily self-taught, Micah Hobbes Frazier aka DJ Trinity began spinning vinyl in 2001 playing around with friends trading off two songs each that taught her about flow and transition as well as creativity and flexibility in the moment. Learning to beat match taught her how to use her whole body to “hear” and count beats, hearing music in a completely different way. A bass junkie since birth, Trinity mixes Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, House, and Drum and Bass beats, working hard to engage her audience in an experience that touches the body, mind, and soul. She is a resident at Living Room 3rd Fridays, and O’FaSho!, two of the hottest parties in Oakland, CA.
