Harvey Milk in the 1978 Parade
Supervisor Harvey Milk rode in the 1978 San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade holding a sign that reads, "I'm from Woodmere N.Y." It was just a few short months later in November that Milk was assassinated along with then-Mayor George Moscone. Milk spoke to the crowds at the 1978 Gay Freedom Day Celebration in San Francisco's Civic Center in a scene that was famously depcited in The MILK Movie featuring Sean Penn.
