Take a Stand for LGBT Youth

Pride’s message this year is Take a Stand for LGBT Youth. For our 41st annual Celebration and Parade, the Trevor Project is being honored as our National Organizational Grand Marshal. Each one of us deserves a chance to dream big and achieve big, regardless of our sexual orientation or gender identity. The Trevor Project is here for young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning people to help whenever you or a friend might need to talk to someone, or if you are considering suicide. With lifesaving programs and information, The Trevor Project works every day to make the future better for all LGBTQ youth. Learn more at www.TheTrevorProject.org.

Donate at the Gate & Get Beverage Discounts at the SF Pride Celebration

Support Your Local Non-Profits
Donate the minimum request of $5 at the entrance gates of the SF Pride Celebration to earn yourself a dollar discount off beverage purchases for that day of the event. Not only is your donation going to help the local non-profit organizations staffing the gates, but a portion of your beverage purchase also helps support another fantastic group of non-profits working the beverage booths. Your support is vital not only in helping to keep San Francisco Pride accessible and open to people of all economic backgrounds, but your donation also helps strengthen community organizations working on issues related to the LGBT community, cancer, HIV/AIDS, animal welfare, and homelessness.

Why I Volunteer for Pride

By Volunteer & Member Naureen Virani
I volunteer for SF Pride because it encourages me to keep an open mind in general and not limit myself to one specific way of thinking. I’ve only had gay friends growing up in the South. Volunteering here is mostly for them. Learning about new cultures doesn’t hurt anyone. I volunteer for SF Pride because I believe in what they do and I want to support the community. Former SF Pride Celebrity Grand Marshal Lt. Dan Choi was arrested on Saturday, May 28th along with other gay rights leaders, after staging a rally near the Kremlin in response to the Russian government banning a gay pride parade. The week prior, a group of hateful citizens, allied with neo-Nazis, held an anti-gay demonstration in Moscow.  Lt. Choi has served as Grand Marshal of the San Francisco, New York City, Miami, and Wichita LGBT Pride Parades. To read more about the protest and Lt. Choi, click here.
