Sir Ian McKellen To Head Parade
Sir Ian McKellen will head this years San Francisco LGBT Pride Parade as Celebrity Grand Marshal. Ian came out publicly as a gay man in 1988 when he joined the Arts Lobby against Section 28, a law forbidding city and county governments from promoting homosexuality in the UK. Sir Ians coming out has a very special connection with San Francisco: "San Francisco is where I decided to come out in 1988 - it's high time I came back to thank everyone!" he says.
SF Pride President, Joshua Smith, said:
Sir Ians life-story is synonymous with our theme; Be Yourself, Change The World. Were thrilled he will be joining us on June 30th.
