Out 4 Justice – SF Pride 2004
2004 Theme Chosen

"Out 4 Justice -- Pride 2004" will be the theme for next year's 34th anniversary San Francisco Pride Parade and Celebration. Chosen at the Annual General Meeting from 35 proposals from our community, "Out 4 Justice -- Pride 2004" will keep the political and legal struggles of our civil rights movement at the forefront of our attention throughout the year.

Pride President Joey Cain said:

"Our membership voted overwhelmingly in favor of this theme because it speaks to many different communities. “Out 4 Justice” places our fight for queer equality in the larger picture of the movement for social and economic justice that is the wellspring of all human rights movements. It reminds us that our beautiful LGBT movement is about creating a just world for all."

Just as San Francisco Pride partnered with Equality California to call attention to AB205 during last year's event, next year's parade and celebration will incorporate education, outreach and action on the issues facing our community.

Pride Executive Director Teddy Witherington said:

"San Francisco Pride is both a celebration and a statement--it’s a symbol of our strength and diversity that reaches across the globe. When we come out as a community for Pride, just as when we come out individually, we affirm our humanity, demanding full equality and justice.”

Next year is the 34th anniversary of the San Francisco Pride Celebration and the Parade. The event is to be held over the June 26/27 weekend.
