2008 San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Main Stage Line-Up
A Diverse Line-up Featuring Crystal Waters, Meshell Ndegeocello, Inaya Day and Kat DeLuna Promises to Entertain and Engage

SAN FRANCISCO - 18 June 2008 ‑ The San Francisco LGBT Pride Main Stage's programming pairs speakers from the frontlines of the LGBT civil rights struggle with up-and-coming, cutting-edge performers.

The San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Celebration Committee announced on June 20th  the Saturday and Sunday line-ups for the 2008 Main Stage. Among the headliners rank a mix of talented women of color including Meshell Ndegeocello, Crystal Waters, Inaya Day, and Kat DeLuna. Also, on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Celebrity Grand Marshal Cyndi Lauper will make a special appearance on the Main Stage.

In addition, leaders of the marriage equality movement, Kate Kendell, Executive Director of NCLR and Geoff Kors, Executive Director of Equality California, will join the exciting line-up of Main Stage Speakers. Molly McKay, activist for Marriage Equality will also speak on Saturday and Sunday.

"As the biggest stage at the largest LGBT gathering in the nation, San Francisco Pride's Main Stage melds the diversity of our community with cutting-edge entertainment,” said Lindsey Jones, Pride’s executive director. “In the wake of the California Supreme Court's landmark decision in favor of marriage equality, the community has even more reason to come together June 28 and 29 to hear about and get active in the ongoing struggle for LGBT equality while taking in the unique sounds of our Main Stage performances."

“Since the first Gay Pride picnic 38 years ago, San Francisco Pride has continued to lead the way in fusing the celebration of LGBT culture and diversity with the LGBT civil rights movement,” said Board President Mikayla Connell. "It could not be more fitting that our Main Stage stands at the base of the stairs of San Francisco City Hall where the legal battle for marriage equality in California began in February 2004. This year our Main Stage line-up of speakers and performers will continue that tradition and take San Francisco Pride to a new level of entertainment and activism fused into one amazing celebration of this historic year in the struggle for LGBT civil rights."
