Pride Committee Set to Hold Town Hall Meeting
Pride Invites Community to Become Involved
San Francisco, CA – 12 January 2010 – The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee announced today an upcoming Town Hall meeting set to take place at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center’s Ceremonial Room on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Pride Committee seeks to energize the community and to invite their support in preparing for the fortieth anniversary San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade. At the Town Hall, the Pride Committee will provide information about how to become a member, volunteer, or a grant recipient through Pride’s Community Partners Program as well as information about other Pride-related events set for Spring.
“Pride wants to continue to grow with our community, which is why it is so critical for us to invite our community members’ opinions, ideas, and involvement,” stated Executive Director Amy André. “The Town Hall will build on Pride’s history as a community-driven event.
Board President Mikayla Connell stated, “Pride would not be possible were it not for the enthusiastic support of our community. The Town Hall will be more than just a forum for the sharing of ideas but will also be a chance for the community to find out how to be a part of this year’s landmark fortieth anniversary Celebration and Parade.
Community members and stakeholders are invited to bring their ideas about the annual event and the role of the Pride Celebration Committee in the community. Light snacks and refreshments will be available. ASL interpretation will be provided, and members of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community are strongly encouraged to attend. RSVPs are welcome but not required by January 25 at rsvp@sfpride.org. The venue is ADA accessible.
All questions about the Town Hall can be directed to Pride at info@sfpride.org or by calling (415) 864-0831.
