San Francisco Pride Cuts Final Checks for 2010 Community Partners
LGBT Celebration & Parade Committee Fulfills Commitment with $38,000 Payment
San Francisco, CA – 21 June 2011 - The San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Pride Celebration Committee announced today that payments totaling more than $38,000 will be distributed in the coming days to its 2010 Community Partners, fulfilling its pledge to remunerate outstanding funds previously promised to those organizations. With these payments, SF Pride will have paid a total of $166,663.83 in grants to Bay Area-based non-profit organizations that participated in the 2010 program.
“The board promised our community that we would honor our grant commitments to our 2010 partners, and today I am happy to report that we have come through on that promise,” stated San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee Board Chair, Lisa Williams. “From the beginning, San Francisco Pride has been about supporting our community. Fulfilling our financial commitments to our partners will continue to be a critical component of that support.”
“We are fully committed to be a fiscally responsible organization, which includes fulfilling our promise to pay our 2010 partners in full,” said San Francisco Pride’s Interim Executive Director, Brendan Behan. “Our Community Partners continue to play a key role at Pride, and we intend to keep the focus on the good and important work that they do for the community.”
San Francisco Pride’s Community Partners Program is a grant-giving initiative that provides non-profit organizations based in the Bay Area with grant funds in exchange for volunteer staffing at beverage booths and donation gates at the annual two-day San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade. Bay Area non-profits dedicated to work on LGBT issues, HIV/AIDS, cancer, the environment, and animal welfare are eligible to participate. San Francisco Pride’s Community Partners Program has granted over $1.8 million to its partners since the program’s inception in 1997.
