Landmark San Francisco LGBT Pride Parade Webcasts Live Around the World June 24 Parade also to feature Google’s ‘Gayglers’ and their special guest George Takei, Star Trek’s Mr. Sulu, dancing down Market Street San Francisco, June 18, 2007 The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee is excited to announce that for the first time, the SF Pride Parade will be webcast live on June 24. KRON 4 starts its coverage at 10:30 a.m., PST, which will be shown live on Comcast Ch. 99 (digital) in the Bay Area. It will be webcast live at KRON4.COM and ShakeRadio.com, a Clear Channel station. A KRON 4 prime-time broadcast starts at 7p.m. The committee is also pleased to welcome Google as a sponsor of the SFPride Parade. As part of its sponsorship, Google's LGBT employee group, the Gayglers, will host George Takei, Star Trek's Mr. Sulu, traveling down Market Street on their float. “We are so happy to have Google in the SFPride Parade,” said Lindsey H. Jones, executive director of the San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee. “Google reaches all corners of the world, and that’s right where we want SFPride and the Pride movement to be, in all corners of the world.” The company that helps people sort through a diversity of content on the Web recognizes the importance of that same diversity in its workplace. “A lot of the innovation at Google stems from people with different experiences and opinions collaborating together.” said Wes Thierry, a Google Software Engineer. “This sponsorship is a way to demonstrate to the community the support that LGBT employees receive from within Google, more importantly, this is a way that LGBT employees can demonstrate to Google how much we appreciate the support we are given.” Actor, director and activist George Takei will appear on the Main Stage at the Civic Center.
