A big, heartfelt, warm THANK YOU from San Francisco Pride. The 48th Annual LGBT Pride Parade and Celebration were full of love, inspiration, music, and laughter. Tens of thousands of people, from all Generations of Strength, flooded Market Street in a collective expression of joy, resistance, and solidarity. Flags were flown, chants shouted, hands waved, and hugs given. Our Grand Marshals, Special Guests, and Pride Awardees were cheered on, alongside the many community groups, nonprofits, local business, and corporate groups marching in the Parade.
The sun shone down as revelers brought their smiles to Civic Center for the most diverse Pride celebration in the country. We were treated to performances at over twenty unique stages: people sang along in joyous harmony to some of their favorite songs and danced together to new favorite artists. Messages of inclusion, of mutual respect, of perseverance, and grit were shared with the crowds.
Pride is more than just an annual event, it is a drive for visibility, equality, and equity. This drive is in the hearts of the community and our allies. We sincerely thank everyone who made Pride special in 2018 — our volunteers, performers, sponsors, Board of Directors, neighbors, community partners, and all of you.
We’re pretty sure that with your donations this year, we will reach the Three Million Dollar milestone in our donations back to Bay Area nonprofit organizations.
We are already looking forward to San Francisco Pride 2019 – when we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. We hope you’ll be with us!
