Volunteer Program Overview
The two-day San Francisco Pride Celebration & Parade is the largest outdoor event in the state of California and one of the largest LGBT events in North America.  Such a large community event could take place were it not for the more than 1,000 volunteers who help in the office, at the Parade, and on the Celebration site.

The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee values quite deeply the diversity of our communities and the accessibility of the event.  To make the event economically accessible to people of all economic backgrounds, San Francisco Pride does not charge an entrance fee to the Parade or Celebration.  Only by means of a robust volunteer program are we able to continue to keep the event free and open to people of all financial means.

Additionally, volunteers make a very direct impact on Pride’s capacity to support non-profit groups and to give back to the community by helping us to maintain a safe, exciting, and economically viable event.  Volunteers have helped Pride to return over one million dollars back to the community since 1997.

It is no overstatement to say that the success of San Francisco Pride depends on our dedicated volunteers.
