Each year, for one weekend in June, hundreds of thousands of participants occupy Market Street and the Civic Center to enjoy and participate in the largest outdoor civic event in California. The need for a safe and welcoming LGBT-positive space is as necessary as ever, and one of the ways to accomplish this is by volunteering with our successful Medical Volunteer Program!

How to Apply:

If you are an EMT, Paramedic, MD, PA or RN become a Medical Volunteer by filling out a

Medical Volunteer Application

We are asking for a few volunteers on Saturday, June 28, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and are asking for most of the volunteers to join us on Sunday, June 29, from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. You choose when and the amount of time you would like to volunteer. Volunteers cover the parade route, celebration area, and first aid station.

The Medical Committee Command Center has relocated to the parking lot of Wells Fargo Bank at the corner of Larkin and Grove.

Volunteer Perks

Medical Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet other community-minded volunteers, be seen by and work among tens of thousands of event-goers, and make new friendships. Some of the other perks include:

Celebration Volunteer Positions (June 28 & 29 and during Pride Week)
Celebration Volunteers help at the Pride event location at Civic Center on June 28 and 29 or immediately beforehand at the various events that take place in preparation for Pride Weekend.

Parade Volunteer Positions (June 29, 2008)
The Pride Parade, which takes place Sunday, June 29, 2008, offers a series of positions for volunteers interested in working with our Parade contingents and attendees.

Safety Volunteer Positions (June 28 & 29)
Safety volunteers are trained by the San Francisco Pride Safety Committee in effective crowd management techniques and work to ensure the safety of event attendees. Click here for a full description of volunteer positions with Safety.
